Can Tulsa Kids Count on You this Summer?

Access to pools has historically been restricted through segregation laws – and by force. These tactics prevented people of color from gaining access to pools, and as a result, swimming never became integral to Black Americans’ recreation and sports culture and was not passed down from generation to generation.

YWCA Tulsa, in partnership with Red Cross and the City of Tulsa, is dedicated to addressing this issue through Los Pececitos and All Swim, our free swim programs designed to remove financial and language barriers to participating in swim lessons. We can’t do it without your support!

For over 10 years, YWCA Tulsa has run Los Pececitos, which means “little fish” in Spanish. This successful program, hosted at our East Community Center by bilingual staff and serving the Hispanic/Latino community, has provided lessons to 1,300 kids who had no other opportunity to learn to swim.

We are building on the success of our Los Pececitos program serving families in East Tulsa to reach more children, and this summer we will be bringing All Swim to families in North Tulsa.

Consider the impact you will make on the next generation of swimmers by supporting this program. You can help us reach Tulsa kids and set them up for a lifetime of success in the water.

  • A gift of $1,250 will sponsor a class of 12 swimmers.

  • A gift of $60 will cover the cost for a lifeguard to receive pediatric CPR and AED certification.
