Refugee and Asylee Services

Refugees come to the US after a long and difficult process of seeking refugee status outside the U.S. Asylum seekers seek protection directly from the U.S. Refugees and asylees often leave everything behind as they flee for safety and many spend years in limbo before their cases are approved.

YWCA Tulsa is committed to connecting refugees, individuals who have received asylum, and their families to the services needed to establish and flourish in Tulsa.

"A REFUGEE IS A PERSON WHO, OWNING TO A WELL-FOUNDED FEAR OF BEING PERSECUTED FOR REASON OF RACE, RELIGION, NATIONALITY, MEMBERSHIP OF PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUP OR POLITICAL OPINION, IS OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY OF HIS NATIONALITY AND IS UNABLE OR, OWNING TO SUCH FEAR, UNWILLING TO AVAIL HIMSELF OF THE PROTECTION OF THAT COUNTRY."
