Internships

Spring Communications Internship

YWCA Tulsa is seeking undergraduate or graduate student applicants for one (1) spring internship in our Communications & Development department, which oversees all external and internal communications, media relations, marketing, special events, planned giving, and grants. Intern will work 10-40 hours per week, based on availability, at YWCA Tulsa’s Bailey House in downtown Tulsa (15th and Denver). The internship will begin on or near Monday, January 11, and will run through the spring semester.

This internship will involve heavy content development for a variety of mediums to include web, social media, print, television, internal publications and more. It will also include conducting formal brand awareness studies and evaluating any increases or decreases in visibility based on various marketing initiatives and campaigns. The intern will work to develop strong ties within the business community and establish opportunities for third-party marketing and cause marketing events, as well as recruit, plan and oversee community outreach opportunities and small events. A “special project” will be assigned for the intern to “own” during his/her time with YWCA Tulsa based on the organization’s need and the intern’s strengths.

We are looking for a highly-inquisitive, self-motivated student with strong writing skills, a quick pace and demonstrated interest in the field of communications. The ideal candidate has a deep commitment to personal growth and a desire to learn more about eliminating racism and empowering women. Applicants should have completed at least four semesters of course work. The internship will primarily be office-based but could include occasional attendance at offsite meetings in Tulsa. While this is an unpaid internship, we are happy to cooperate with an institution's requirements for academic credit.

To apply, email a cover letter and resume with "Spring Communications Internship" in the subject line to kjohnson@ywcatulsa.org by Friday, November 27. No calls, please.
