Director of Marketing and Communications
The Marketing & Communications Director serves as the hub of institutional information, cultivating external and internal relationships that help interpret public attitudes, engage and inform various key audiences, and safeguard assets and data.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate annual strategic communications plans for program-specific and agency-wide exposure, as well as for special events and all YWCA Tulsa activities.
  • Develop communications initiatives designed to build and foster an organizational culture of inclusion, empowerment, excellence, respect, and boldness. 
  • Manage and track effectiveness of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, websites, and social media while maintaining the organization’s branding standards.
  • Manage YWCA Tulsa website content and all social media content creation and output. Ensure posts are factual and align with local and national mission directives.
  • Create annual public relations calendar, including press releases, earned media, and managing all media contacts. 
  • Develop content that engages external audience segments and leads to measureable action across multiple platforms to include television, radio, and print advertisements, eNewsletters, printed newsletters, press releases, social media, website, and internal instruments.
  • Oversee, track, and support community outreach opportunities; Secure strategic partnerships to increase visibility within the community; Maintain and track expo kit distribution.
  • Track, measure, and report message impact by means of media impressions, anecdotal responses, presentations, etc.
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with media outlets and public-facing entities, leveraging paid buys to create earned media opportunities and promotions.
  • In collaboration with key department heads, develop and execute awareness, public relations, and marketing campaigns for specials events and advocacy campaigns.
  • Serve as the point person for the Tulsa Area United Way’s campaign regarding speaker requests and presentations.
  • Introduce new communication vehicles to create momentum and awareness as well as to gauge the effectiveness of overall communications activities.
  • Manage an electronic marketing ticket system, completing and/or delegating projects for completion by deadline and maintaining clear lines of communication with all staff members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a passionate advocate for the mission, values and goals of the YWCA Tulsa.
  • Excellent attention to detail – able to catch the smallest typo and remember countless names. 
  • Superior communication skills – verbal, written, and web-based.
  • Advanced writer who can adjust messaging and tone based on the audience and medium.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office with heavy use of Word, Outlook, and Excel).
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is strongly preferred.
  • Graphic design skills are highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to effectively work with and organize volunteers.
  • Loves to work on a team, but is capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Strong commitment to learning, growth, and continuous improvement. 
  • Works on skills that can help communicate his/her point to an audience belonging to a completely different identity and/or background.  These differences can be identity-based, geographical, ethical, political, or historical.
  • Openness to engaging conflict in a positive and proactive manner with the goals of finding solutions, producing change, and bringing together opposing parties.
  • Works effectively with all employees and members of all races, religions, sexes, national origins, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions; and without regard to disability status, genetic information, marital status, or status as a covered veteran.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and insurance verification. Reliable transportation.

Education/Experience:

  • 4-Year bachelor degree, preferably in communications, marketing, business, or related field.
  • Experience in all forms of communication – written, verbal, web, social media.

Director of Development

Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Development will design, evaluate and implement strategies to achieve fundraising goals. The Director is responsible for developing and executing fundraising strategy to achieve overall business and financial objectives and strategic direction of YWCA Tulsa. The Director will work closely with a senior peer group within the organization as the development partner on a variety of strategic initiatives.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

1.      CEO to match program and capital needs with appropriate funding sources and to develop strategies to cover any fundraising shortfall; in addition to outline budget and

2.      Program directors to identify client stories, outcomes, and other data useful for fundraising.

Part Time

Interpreters (contract)

 

YWCA Tulsa is seeking experienced interpreters of Spanish, Burmese, Zomi, Arabic, French, Vietnamese, Korean, Portuguese, and other languages to expand our contractor pool for client requests. Contract interpreters receive assignments based on availability and volume of client requests; numbers of jobs will vary from week to week. 

Interpreters process information quickly and concisely, recognize sensitive cultural differences and are professional and courteous at all times. Interpreters uses appropriate terminology and understand common industry procedures and practices. Interpreting assignments may be technical or non-technical in the following fields: healthcare, government services and education. Contract interpreters are responsible for traveling to client sites by appointment. 

Major Responsibilities
  • Abide by professional interpreting ethics, especially around confidentiality, accuracy, and impartiality 
  • Render correct concepts and meanings according to the conventions of established interpretation protocol
  • Provide clear and accurate renditions with no additions or omissions
  • Employ excellent customer service, clear enunciation and pronunciation, and a pleasant and professional voice as well as polite forms of expression
  • Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the assignment at all times
  • Provide clarification and cultural brokering using excellent judgment and skill
  • Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment
  • Have access to the internet, an email account for communication on assignments, and Excel for tracking hours
  • Have reliable transportation for travel to and from assignments
  • Work well independently and operate in the best interests of YWCA
Qualifications
  • Fluency in English and target language 
  • Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences to find ways of communicating with the limited English proficient client
  • Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to concentrate and to stay detached from the conversation, remaining neutral and objective at all times and following client's instructions closely
  • Ability to explain idiomatic expressions and cultural nuances to avoid miscommunication
  • Certification in interpretation strongly preferred, extensive experience interpreting in formal settings may be substituted for credentials

ELL Instructor (Part time opportunities)

 

Seeking energetic ELL practitioners YWCA Tulsa’s Adult Education program. TESL Certification and experience teaching adults required; some curriculum development required; bilingual in Spanish a plus; expertise in computer-based curricula and other technology preferred; daytime and evening hours; includes benefit package. We have part-time openings for ELL/Civics Instructors and Substitutes.
 
Position Description: Responsible for teaching curriculum plans to assist immigrants and refugees in achieving linguistic and citizenship competency to pass naturalization exam.

Lifeguard (PT)

Swim Instructors (PT)

Come be a part of the YWCA Tulsa team as a part-time swim instructor. Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification required; bilingual in Spanish preferred. We will certify qualified candidates.

Drop-In Child Care Attendant

Opening for part-time child care attendants for children whose parents are participants in our educational programs. Children range in age from 6 weeks through 8 years. You will provide developmentally-appropriate care, comfort, nurturing and guidance to infants/toddlers in order to enhance their emotional and physical growth as outlined by NAEYC and State Licensing guidelines.

Duties include: Ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of facility according with health and hygiene standards, including but not limited to the toileting area, toys, cots, sheets, and diaper changing area.

Gym membership included. Schedules may vary including some evening and weekends.

Spanish bilingual required.
