Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The Chief Executive Officer is the key management leader of YWCA TULSA. The CEO is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

The YWCA Chief Executive Officer is truly passionate about YWCA’s mission; serves as the symbol of the organization; is committed to providing the highest quality services and sound financial operations; assiduously working in collaboration with the Board of Directors, staff, and others in the communities served; and assuring that YWCA Tulsa remains a recognized leader as a premier model for social change through its services, advocacy, education, and training programs. This person is the organization’s primary spokesperson to the community, national YWCA, and significant donors.

LEADERSHIP

Responsible for implementation of programs that carry out the organization’s mission. Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that YWCA can successfully fulfill its mission into the future. Responsible for the enhancement of the organization’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

BOARD

Responsible for leading YWCA Tulsa in a manner that supports the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors. Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

MANAGEMENT

Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate. Responsible for effective administration of operations. Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff. Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.

FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization. Responsible for the fiscal integrity of YWCA Tulsa. Responsible for fiscal management including operating within the board approved budget, , ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position. Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support organization’s mission.

RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

Develops resources sufficient to ensure the operations of the organization programs including working with donors, grantors and foundations to ensure sustainable funding streams. Fundraising efforts include overseeing and leading a comprehensive fund development and donor cultivation plan.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Serves as spokesperson for the organization and helps craft and convey a cohesive story about the organization. Help build and maintain a positive brand image for YWCA Tulsa.

ELL  Instructor (Full time and Part time opportunities)

Seeking energetic ELL practitioner for full-time Lead ELL Instructor position in YWCA Tulsa’s Adult Education program. TESL Certification and experience teaching adults required; some curriculum development required; bilingual in Spanish a plus; expertise in computer-based curricula and other technology preferred; daytime and evening hours; includes benefit package. We also have part-time openings for ELL/Civics Instructors and Substitutes.
 
Position Description: Responsible for teaching curriculum plans to assist immigrants and refugees in achieving linguistic and citizenship competency to pass naturalization exam.
  • Instruct immigrant and refugee students using best practice ESL methods and materials to increase students’ functional language competency, and to reach students’ educational and other goals. 
  • Maintain excellent student records including attendance, pre-, mid-, and post-tests, student/class outcomes, and submit data as per Language Services Procedures in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to government grant requirements.
  • Instruct immigrant and refugee legal permanent residents using civics and citizenship curriculum to increase students’ knowledge of the naturalization process to become US citizens, and promote civic and community engagement.
  • Plan and implement lessons and activities appropriate to the type and level of class being taught, whether English language, pre-GED, or Project Citizenship.
  • Substitute for other teachers when necessary depending on availability.
  • Attend required Language Services departmental meetings as requested.
  • Engage in a minimum of 15 hours of professional development during the fiscal year.
  • Participate in YWCA functions as needed and requested by the Director.
  • Comply with all YWCA policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to fluently speak, read, and write English, and another language preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, especially as required in preparing lessons and working and interacting with diverse groups of students, internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be an advocate for the mission, values, and goals of YWCA Tulsa.
  • Work effectively with all employees and members of all races, religions, sexes, national origins, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions; and without regard to disability status, genetic information, marital status, status as a covered veteran, or any other legally protected status, as well as socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Work on skills that can help communicate his/her point to an audience belonging to a completely different identity and/or background. These differences can be identity-based, geographical, ethical, political, or historical.
  • Openness to engaging conflict in a positive and proactive manner with the goals of finding solutions, producing change, and bringing together opposing parties.
  • Strong commitment to learning, growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to multiple class sites.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • TESL certification required
  • Two years' experience in adult education required
  • Oklahoma or other current teaching certificate a plus
  • Experience teaching Civics and US history and/or naturalization process a plus

Part Time

Interpreters (contract)

YWCA Tulsa is seeking experienced interpreters of Spanish, Burmese, Zomi, Arabic, French, Vietnamese, Korean, Portuguese, and other languages to expand our contractor pool for client requests. Contract interpreters receive assignments based on availability and volume of client requests; numbers of jobs will vary from week to week. 

Interpreters process information quickly and concisely, recognize sensitive cultural differences and are professional and courteous at all times. Interpreters uses appropriate terminology and understand common industry procedures and practices. Interpreting assignments may be technical or non-technical in the following fields: healthcare, government services and education. Contract interpreters are responsible for traveling to client sites by appointment.

Lifeguard (PT)

YWCA Tulsa is looking for dedicated, indoor, part-time lifeguards.

Swim Instructors (PT)

Come be a part of the YWCA Tulsa team as a part-time swim instructor. Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification required; bilingual in Spanish preferred. We will certify qualified candidates.

Drop-In Child Care Attendant

Opening for part-time child care attendants for children whose parents are participants in our educational programs. Children range in age from 6 weeks through 8 years. You will provide developmentally-appropriate care, comfort, nurturing and guidance to infants/toddlers in order to enhance their emotional and physical growth as outlined by NAEYC and State Licensing guidelines.

Duties include: Ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of facility according with health and hygiene standards, including but not limited to the toileting area, toys, cots, sheets, and diaper changing area.

Gym membership included. Schedules may vary including some evening and weekends.

Spanish bilingual required.

Communications Internship

YWCA seeks an energetic and skilled individual with a wide range of administrative and technical skills to assist with content creation, marketing-related projects, website maintenance and social media. This position is estimated at 12 to 20 hours per week and is an unpaid, intern position which typically runs for 3-4 months. We have seasonal opportunities and are willing to consider applicants year-around.
