YWCA Women of the Year

YWCA Tulsa's Women of Year distinction is reserved for 10 fearless Green Country women who best personify the mission of YWCA Tulsa and have demonstrated their commitment to eliminating racism and empowering women within the last year. The award coincides with YWCA Tulsa's Wine, Women and Shoes event on Saturday, April 11, where each of the women will be presented and honored during the event's "MoxieCouture" fashion program.

Women who personify the mission of YWCA - eliminating racism and empowering women - and share YWCA Tulsa's core values - addressing race and gender disparities in wellness, wealth, and education - are eligible for nomination. Nominees must have a connection to Tulsa through residence, work, or volunteerism. Posthumous and self-nominations will not be accepted. Staff of YWCA Tulsa are not eligible for nomination.

Nominees for YWCA Tulsa's Women of the Year will have a mix of exceptional qualities and demonstrated commitment to making Tulsa a more equitable city for all, with an emphasis on recent contributions (within the last year). They are both the unsung heroes of our city and those who we have come to associate with excellence. Selection criteria might include women who:

- Have founded or innovated new ideas, initiatives, or projects, especially those that support our mission
- Exhibit exceptional leadership
- Are both empowered and empowering, serving as role models and/or mentors to other women and girls
- Advocate for positive social change that helps close the leadership gap and create equity, especially courageous champions of controversial or unpopular issues
- Reinforce policies, practices, attitudes, and/or actions that are intended to produce equitable outcomes for all
- Give back to the community through their time, talent, and/or resources
- Make their schools, neighborhoods, workplaces, or communities more inclusive and equitable
