TALKING POINTS FOR FRIENDLY CONVERSATION

We all have opportunities in every day social interactions to share what we are doing and invite friends to join alongside us. As you move forward as a Circle member, we hope these points will help you have effective conversations that convey your enthusiasm and joy in joining our Giving Circle!

  • YWCA has endured a large loss of federal grant funding, but have pivoted programming to continue supporting our immigrant and refugee neighbors as they work toward self sufficiency.

  • Share your personal reasons for joining, explaining why it’s important to you to do/support this work. Personal connections are almost always more impactful than anything we preface with here.

  • Assure them that this will be a low-lift opportunity to engage with YWCA Tulsa’s programming. While they may decide to become more involved the more they learn about YWCA’s work, there is no minimum service hours, and we are not counting attendance at meetings. The structure is incredibly friendly to those with active work and social lives.

  • Don’t be afraid to confidently ask which Circle they are considering joining, rather than asking if they are considering joining a Circle. Subtle changes in language can boost their confidence in joining.

SAMPLE TEXT FOR A POST:

🫶 Excited to be a YWCA Tulsa Giving Circle Member working towards eliminating racism and empowering women! Learn more about this new program and how you can #AmplifyYourImpact at www. ywcatulsa.org/giving-circles 🧡 😁🎉

  • Once each Circle is funded and we’ve hosted the launch event, members will meet and set a cadence for their involvement expectations for the next year. While some Circles may only have time/desire to meet quarterly, some Circles may find that they want to meet on a more frequent basis, learn more about YWCA Tulsa’s mission and programs and get involved in other capacities.

We welcome all levels of involvement, and our Individual Giving Manager will meet with each Circle to support with meeting space reservations, refreshments and communications. No Circle will be solely responsible for managing scheduled meetings, but are welcome to meet outside of formal meeting dates at their leisure.

  • Giving Circles will be annual, so January-December 2026. You will have the option to renew your membership beginning in September 2026.

  • Absolutely! If you’d like to support all three existing Circles, or if another new circle develops that you are interested in supporting, just contact Krystal to join.
