Community Investment Program

YWCA Tulsa is providing hope to community members through the Community Investment Program. We want all people, regardless of financial capacity, to be able to take part in YWCA health & wellness programming and achieve their personal fitness goals.

YWCA Tulsa’s Community Investment Program allows members experiencing financial hardship to apply for a sliding-scale member discount based on family size and financial need.

Can you make a gift and keep our community healthy and strong?

Donate Today, Empower Tomorrow

Juan and his daughters understand the value of your kind gift.

Juan recently moved to the United States from Venezuela. He is a single parent, raising two girls. Since moving to Tulsa, he has struggled to find a fitness center he could afford.

One day a coworker told him about YWCA Tulsa and the Community Investment Program.

Joining YWCA Tulsa through the community Investment Program gives Juan and his girls the opportunity to achieve a healthier life, learn how to strengthen their bodies, and experience community. His girls got to experience a swimming pool for the first time in their lives when they visited our East Community Center pool.

Juan and his family have been Community Investment Program members for seven months now. Each day they visit the YWCA, they have a chance to make their lives healthier, and their future brighter.

American Red Cross Certifications

Water safety training classes help provide adequate training for those charged with keeping watch over bodies of water. Those who take our classes prepare themselves to respond to real-life emergencies that may arise. Our American Red Cross-certified instructors will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to act professionally in an emergency until advanced medical personnel arrive.

All water safety training courses are taught at the YWCA Patti Johnson Wilson Center.

Lifeguard Certification Course

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. Successful completion results in a two-year certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.

There are no refunds once the course has been taught. This includes participants who do not successfully complete the course, those who do not attend all scheduled class dates and times, students who do not pass course land and water skills with proficiency (according to American Red Cross requirements), and those who do not pass the written exam. All courses held at Patti Johnson Wilson Center. Register at either location’s front desk, or online through the registration links below.

Cost: $225

Full cost due at registration. Students who do not pass the prerequisite skills test will be refunded $150 of the $225.
